Whether you’re here for a concert or as a guest artist at the Missouri Theatre, please explore some of the city’s landmarks, including the inspireU Children’s Discovery Center, Remington Nature Center,  Saint Joseph Museums, and the Pony Express National Museum. 

St. Joseph, Missouri is a vibrant city full of cultural attractions!  Known for its rich history, St. Joseph is the birthplace of the Pony Express, the Saltine Cracker, and the demise of the notorious outlaw Jesse James. It’s also home to famous figures like Walter Cronkite, Ruth Warrick, and Jill Eikenberry, as well as modern cultural icons like rap superstar Eminem. Directions to the Missouri Theatre

 

COMING FROM NORTH 

Take US-71 / I-29 South toward St. Joseph.

Exit into downtown via the I-29 Business Loop (Frederick Ave).

Continue west to 8th Street, then south to Edmond Street.

Theatre is on the left in the downtown core.

COMING FROM EAST

Take US-36 West toward St. Joseph.

US-36 feeds directly into the St. Joseph parkway system.

Follow signs to Downtown / I-229.

Exit at Edmond Street and proceed west to 8th Street.

COMING FROM SOUTHEAST

Take US-169 North to I-29 North.

Follow I-29 North to the St. Joseph exits.

Take the Downtown / Frederick Ave exit and continue west to Edmond.

COMING FROM SOUTH

Take I-29 North directly to St. Joseph.

Use the Frederick Ave (Business Loop) exit toward Downtown.

Continue to 8th Street → Edmond Street.

COMING FROM NORTHWEST 

Take I-29 South to St. Joseph.

Exit at Downtown / US-59 / Frederick Ave.

Follow Frederick to 8th Street, then south to Edmond.

🌉 Kansas Counties Directly Across the River (Frequent Visitors)

Doniphan County, Kansas borders Buchanan County to the northwest, with U.S. Highway 36 running through Troy, Elwood, and Wathena toward St. Joseph.

From Doniphan County, KS (Troy / Wathena / Elwood)

Take US-36 East across the Missouri River into St. Joseph.

Merge onto the St. Joseph Parkway / I-229 South.

Exit Downtown (Felix or Edmond exits).

Proceed to 8th & Edmond.
